Choose a text frame

Use a detected text or bubble region for automatic fitting, or create point text or a paragraph frame with Text.A text layer without authored geometry can derive its frame from a fit region. Manually transforming it gives the layer its own geometry.

Choose fonts with the right coverage

The font picker includes bundled and discovered system fonts. If a face lacks a glyph, Koharu tries the ordered default stack in Settings → Typesetting, then system fallback.Use fonts that cover the target script. A Latin display font alone is insufficient for Japanese or Chinese dialogue.

Fit and style the text

Set family, weight, style, size or automatic fitting, writing mode, alignment, fill, and stroke. Visibility and opacity also affect the result.Automatic fitting keeps the text inside its presentation frame. Disable it for a fixed size; reset fitting after a substantial translation edit.

Review at reading size

Check every page using the visibility and opacity you intend to export. Confirm the translation is present: source OCR is never rendered as fallback text.

Vertical CJK text

Vertical writing uses shaping and OpenType features rather than a rotated horizontal line. Columns follow the writing direction; supported fonts supply vertical punctuation forms. Inspect punctuation, emphasis marks, Latin runs, and small kana individually. Font coverage, vertical metrics, and translation length still determine the quality of the result.
Use PNG for delivery or PSD for layered editing, and retain the Koharu project for future changes to semantic text and fitting.
